Night of Belarusian Culture in Washington D.C. E-mail

On October 21, 2008 a night of Belarusian Culture was organized and held in George Mason University. The event started with a documentary "Dzien Voli" ("Freedom Day") by Yury Haschavacki.  Besides the documentary there were prepared and visually presented general facts about Belarus, photos of picturesque landscapes, towns and cities of the country. There were also distributed various printed information sheets, leaflets and brochures.

 

After the demonstration of the movie Belarusian organizations in the USA were introduced to the public. The first speaker Natalia Rabova informed about the Belarusian Youth Movement of America and its activities. Yaraslau Kryvy was telling about the history and today's life of the Belarusian-American Association. Alla Kitova prepared a report containing useful information about "Rotary Club" that helps and supports Belarusian students who study abroad. Viachaslau Bortnik represented Amnesty International.

Besides that the public had a chance to get acquainted with the works of a famous Belarusian artist Mikola Kupava. The Belarusian Museum of NYC introduced his personal exhibition dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the outstanding Belarusian poets Janka Kupala and Jakub Kolas.
