On the 26th of April, near the UN Headquarters, Belarusian Diaspora of New York organized a demonstration devoted to the 23 anniversary of the man-caused catastrophe on the Charnobyl atomic power station. The catastrophe caused irreparable losses for our country.
About 60 people from different parts of the US – New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Main and other states – took part in the demonstration.
Prominent Belarusians spoke at the meeting. Among them the founder of BAZA (Belarusian American Association) Anton Shukeloiz, a famous sculptor and painter Ales Shaternik, a member of Rada of St. Cyril of Turau Cathedral in New York Mikola Saganovich and leaders of youth organizations. Young activists spoke of their organizations and combined efforts that are needed in order to help our Homeland.
Participants sang “My vijdzem shchylnymi radami” (“Come, We Shall March in Joint Endeavour”) and “Magutny Bozha” (“Mighty God”).
Long Live Belarus!!!
